Making parking easier and more accessible for everyone, including residents, visitors, and businesses
About the Project
The Township of Lake of Bays is working on updating how off-street parking works in Lake of Bays to make it easier and better for business owners, residents and visitors. These proposed changes to By-law 2021-111 aim to make off-street parking simpler, more flexible, and aligned with what other municipalities are doing.
We Heard You
In 2024, working with the community, we created a big plan for the future called the Community Improvement Plan (CIP). As part of that plan, we asked people to share their ideas about what’s working well and what could be improved in our township.
One thing we heard a lot about was parking. The feedback pointed to opportunities for:
-
-
Introducing more flexibility to the rules for different situations
-
Ensuring parking meets the demands of our growing community
What's Changing?
The following changes apply only to off-street parking (such as driveways, parking lots, and private property). They do NOT affect on-street parking spaces (parking on public roads). Click through the different changes below to learn more about what is being proposed:

What's Next?
The proposed off-street parking changes will be reviewed at an upcoming public meeting, where Council will decide if the changes move forward.
Council and staff want to hear from the community at this meeting, whether you join in person, online, or by sending a written comment. Here is how you can get involved:
